This blog will cover most of the very frequently asked questions on how to apply for UAE Police Clearance Certificate .

Q: Do I need police clearance certificate?
A: Have you stayed in UAE for more than 6 months? If Yes then you have to get police clearance certificate from UAE. If you stayed less than six months then you don’t need. (Please check with CIC)

Q: How long police clearance certificate is valid? or when it expires?
A: If you are currently living in UAE then your police clearance certificate should be less that six months old when you submit your ITA (Invitation to Apply).

If you are currently staying outside UAE and received your police clearance certificate after you left UAE then your police clearance certificate will be valid till your next visit to UAE.
It means if you don’t visit UAE again before your ITA process then you can use your existing police clearance certificate.

CIC says

If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:

  • are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.

  • have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory.

Q: How long it takes to get Police Clearance Certificate from UAE?
A: There are three long steps in it’s complete process.

Authentication, Legalization and Clearance Certificate from UAE police.

If you are applying from Canada then Authentication from Global Affairs Canada – 10 days, Legalization from UAE Embassy in Canada – 3-5 days  and for Clearance Certificate from UAE police, It is suggested that  sending the documents to a family member or a friend (with authorization letter) and they can obtain the certificate from the Police Department on your behalf so the processing time will be faster. Otherwise getting certificate from UAE police department cant be estimated normally.

Q: What are the documents I need to apply for Police Clearance Certificate UAE?
A: You will need separate documents for each steps

There are few prerequisites as well.  1. Get your fingerprint (for UAE) done .  2. Get the finger print notarized from any public notary. Now follow below three steps.

Step 1: Authentication:  

You will need to get a fingerprint card approved by the UAE or any GCC council in your country.

If you are applying from Canada. Check CIC link here – select ‘Security Clearance’ in document type drop down. Call “Global Affairs Canada Authentication Services Section” at 1800-267-8376.  You can clarify your queries with Customer Care person.

  • Authentication form – filled and signed
  • Notarized finger print card for UAE
  • Prepaid courier shipping label to get back to your mentioned address.

Note: If you are applying from Canada and your UAE Embassy is in Ottawa then after authentication they can send your documents to Embassy directly as per your choice. Call customer care for more info on this.

Step 2: Legalization: (from UAE Embassy in your country)

It is done from UAE embassy of your country. 

  • Authorized Fingerprint card (Authorized by Authentication service)
  • Money order of applicable fee.  If you are applying from Canada it is CAD 52 (please verify the fee before applying). Check UAE embassy link
  • UAE  Request For Authorization form– printed and signed
  • Prepaid courier shipping label to get back to your mentioned address.

Step 3: UAE Police: 

  • Legalized fingerprint form
  • 2 (recent) colored passport size (4×6 cm)  photograph
  • Passport copy (all stamped pages including residency visa, if possible)
  • Emirates card (if available)
  • Application for Certificate of Good Conduct (outside the United Arab Emirates)
  • Applicable Fee as money order.

Q: What is the fee for UAE police?
A:  Please go to UAE link and find the appropriate emirate. Before submitting the above mentioned documents to the UAE Police , you have to contact them to inquire the fees (ex: money order/international draft should be made payable to….) and the courier company etc… and mail. For Dubai police it was 320 Dhm during the blog post. Please check with UAE police for their current fee.

Note: It is suggested that  sending the documents to a family member or a friend (with authorization letter) and they can obtain the certificate from the Police Department on your behalf so the processing time will be faster

A:  Please talk to UAE police Dubai/Abu dhabi first. As per their instruction please visit UAE police Clearance Certificate line  

Q: How to apply for UAE Police Clearance Certificate – Step by Step process?
A:  Please go through the following steps

Step 2: Apply for Legalization of the authorized fingerprint: (This step is done by UAE Embassy of your contry)

Once authentication of Fingerprint is done then following documents need to be mailed to UAE embassy for Legalization of fingerprint.

Documents required are as follows

  • Authorized Fingerprint card (Authorized by Authentication service)

  • Money order of applicable fee.  If you are applying from Canada it is CAD 52. Check UAE embassy link

  • UAE  Request For Authorization form– printed and signed

  • Prepaid courier shipping label to get back to your mentioned address.

 

Step 3: Finally send legalized fingerprint and other documents to UAE particular Emirate Police Office: 

There are two options. Either you courier these documents to UAE OR you send any local representative for this certificate to UAE police office.

Note: It is suggested that  sending the documents to a family member or a friend (with authorization letter) and they can obtain the certificate from the Police Department on your behalf so the processing time will be faster.

Documents required are as follows

  • Legalized fingerprint form

  • 2 (recent) colored passport size (4×6 cm)  photograph

Q: Where and How to use Police Clearance Certificate?
A: CIC will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications. All police certificates must be originals. Photocopies will not be accepted. Upload the color scan copy when submitting your ITA.

    hello do you have format for (1) Authority letter to be given to friend i UAE? (2) Do we need to give separate authority letters form each family members or one letter signed by all family members is fine? (3) what is the APPLICAITON FORM for PCC from outsie UAE? i couldnot find it. Regards

      1. There is no specific format.
      2. You can write one authority letter mentioning all the applicants on that letter

    Thank you for sharing much needed info. They are also asking for power of attorney to be authenticated and legalized. This power of attorney allows the friend or family in Dubai to get the certificate. Do you happen to have the template of power of attorney?

    Do I need to send a power of attorney so that a friend of mine requests the UAE police certificate for me? or is just sending her my finger prints enough.
